  • August 2016 Policy Updates

The August Policy Updates for School Nutrition Administrators is approaching. Please select the session of your choice below and register by the requested deadlines so that room set up and meals may be arranged efficiently. Timely registration is especially important so that the consultants and specialists can coordinate the arrangements for the Team Up work groups.

Lunch will be provided for those registering in advance; however participants are responsible for all additional travel, breaks, snacks, coffee, and additional beverages.

Tentative agenda topics include: Team Up for School Nutrition Success discussion groups, Civil Rights, Verification, Updates on HACCP, Sharing Tables and Local Wellness Policy, Block Grants, Second Review of Applications, On-site Reviews, and new USDA Policy Memorandums.

An evaluation link will be sent after the session and a continuing education certificate for the session will be provided when the evaluation is completed.

  • 2016-17 SY HACCP Plan Template – Central Warehouse

The 2016-17 HACCP Plan Template for Central Warehouse is now available for download on the School Nutrition website.

NOTE:  For your convenience the changes to the template have been highlighted in yellow.  Also, the 2016-17 templates for Homestyle and Transported meals are being revised.  We will notify everyone when they are posted to the website.

  • 2016-17 Menu Templates Now Available

The Menu Templates for the start of the new school year are now available. They can be accessed from a newly created nutrition education resources section on the NCDPI, School Nutrition Services website at:  http://childnutrition.ncpublicschools.gov/information-resources/nutrition-education/school-meals/menu-templates.

Please note the following:

  • The Menu Templates run from August 2016 through January 2017.
  • The Menu Templates were designed in two formats - Elementary and Middle/High. The content for the Elementary School Menus is aimed at families and the content for the Middle/High
  • School Menus is aimed at Middle/High School students.
  • By request, the Menu Template layout has been revised to fit within one page with fewer graphics.
  • MS Publisher was used in the design to allow for customization by local School Nutrition programs.

    The 2016 Annual Conference for School Nutrition Administrators is scheduled for October 26-28, 2016.  Mark your calendars and be on the lookout for more information as it becomes available in the coming months.
