Healthier US School Challenge Award (HUSSC)

The Healthier US School Challenge (HUSSC) is a voluntary initiative established in 2004 to recognize those schools participating in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of good nutrition and physical activity. Four levels of superior performance are awarded: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold of Distinction.
Schools may submit applications for the Healthier US School Challenge by US mail or online. A simplified district application process is available if there are two or more schools applying from one school district.

Awards for Excellence

The Awards for Excellence Program is designed to recognize the great work Child Nutrition Administrators and Cafeteria Managers are doing in local Child Nutrition Program on the cafeteria level.
The purpose of the award is to foster high standards of excellence across the State of North Carolina and to honor those school cafeterias that maintain high standards.
Participation in this award fosters ongoing growth and school improvement.

USDA Best Practice Awards (USDA – SERO)

The purpose of Best Practice Award program is to recognize and reward outstanding practices in schools and in School Food Authorities (SFAs). We encourage you and your staff to nominate your SFA and/or individual schools within the SFA for their outstanding and innovative practices.
Receiving a USDA Best Practice Award is a fabulous opportunity to get the local, state and national recognition your SFA’s Child Nutrition Program has earned!
