Healthier US School Challenge (HUSSC)
The HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) is a voluntary initiative established in 2004 to recognize those schools participating in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of good nutrition and physical activity. Four levels of superior performance are awarded: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold of Distinction. Schools may submit applications for the Healthier US School Challenge by US mail or online. A simplified district application process is available if there are two or more schools applying from one school district.

Awards for Excellence 2011-12
The Awards for Excellence Program is designed to recognize the great work performed in local Child Nutrition Programs on the cafeteria level. The purpose of the award is to foster high standards of excellence across the State of North Carolina and to honor those school cafeterias that maintain high standards. Cafeteria Managers and their staffs are already doing many of the activities described in the Awards for Excellence packet. Participation in this award fosters ongoing growth and school improvement.
Best Practice Award (USDA-SERO)
The purpose of this award program is to encourage, recognize and reward outstanding practices in schools and in School Food Authorities (SFAs). Receiving a USDA Best Practice Award is a fabulous opportunity to get the local, state and national recognition your SFA’s Child Nutrition Program has earned.
